Lil' Sluggers

Not many pictures to share but I do want to record some memories.  We decided to have the twins take part in their first organized sport activity this fall.  The first entertaining story is when we were running ideas by Allie for what she wanted to do, (dance?  art class? soccer?) to which she would reply, "No, Play-doh!!" over and over again.  For a little bit, I seriously thought about having Mike take Cameron to soccer and I stay home with Allie and do Mommy Play-Doh class.

However, we did decide to have Allie take part in Lil' Sluggers with Cameron because we knew the first night Cam went without her, there would be some turmoil.  Tuesday was our first night!  I was a little nervous because our twins are sometimes very shy and nervous in new situations.  Upon arrival, I noticed that Allie was the only girl in the entire class which added to my nervousness.  I don't think she noticed and if she did, she didn't seem to care!'

Things started out well.  They sat in the circle and listened to Miss Christine give them their opening instructions.  The first thing she wanted the class to do was run around the cones.  Allie and Cameron ran about 5 feet and then stopped dead....and would not move.  Next, Miss Christine instructed them to kick over the cones....C and A did not move.  I started thinking, "Great, I spent how much money on this class????"  She then had the class go back to the circle and sit down, which A and C did.

Then the magic started.  Miss Christine brought out the soccer balls and asked the kids to stand up and put one foot on the soccer ball.  Cameron and Allie did this instantly -- and put their little arms out to the side for balance.  Cameron did not move - he was like a statue!!  Miss Christine was very quick to give them some positive comments!  Next, she instructed the class to SLOWLY dribble the soccer balls down to the wall.  You can probably imagine what a bunch of 3 year old boys did when asked to kick soccer balls across a room -- MASS CHAOS!!  However, C and A did as they were asked.  They slowly dribbled the soccer ball across the room and then stopped at the wall.  Cameron even put his little foot up on the soccer ball to hold it in place.  Again, Miss Christine was quite impressed!

After asking the class to go back and sit in the circle, she then brought out the net.  She asked Cameron (MY CAMERON!!) to show the class how to slowly dribble down the gym and shoot the ball in the net.  He did awesome.  When she invited the rest of the class to join, there was mass chaos again.  But in the midst of the chaos was little Allie, slowly and deliberately taking her ball down the gym and kicking it into the net.

Finally, one final story to share.  At the end of the class, Miss Christine had the class do some laps around the gym.  All of the boys were running around crazy and there you see Little Allie girl skipping along, laughing, in her pink sparkly shoes.  She did NOT care that she was the only girl -- she was almost reveling in it!

Mike told me I needed to calm down while all of this was going on because I was "gushing".  I couldn't help it - I was just so proud of the twinjas.  I sometimes get nervous because they are so shy in new situations but I'd much rather have my shy kids who are good listeners than some of the wild kids I saw in that gym.  I was a very proud Momma!

In closing, just a few fun pictures from the rain the other day.  We haven't seen rain in so long and the twins had a fantastic time playing in it!
