Up in the Attic

I obviously love to record memories.  My mother was not very sentimental.  She was not one to do scrapbooks and she did not like clutter!  She did have a video camera and did a lot of taking pictures and videos.  She also had a hope chest that my father got for her in 1967 (purchased from Farm Home for $150.00!) and she kept many memorable things in there.  The other day, Cameron asked if we could go up in the attic and look through the memories.  I have since taken over my mom's hope chest by filling it with memories for the twins and have moved her stuff up to the attic into a chest Aunt Jill gave us.  So up we went!

Allie found a Mother's Day card I made for my mom.

I came upon my memories from Penn State THON -- these were a gift my mom sent me to help keep my eyes open for the 48 hour dance marathon!

My mom kept some of my artwork from high school.

Lots of old copies of the Rocket Courier!

Whoo hoo!  I passed the 8th grade!  Math and all!

Cam enjoyed reading My Kindergarten Handprints.

Allie donned Grandma Stanton's graduation cap from Mansfield!

Found my parents' high school diplomas.

Hmm...maybe it's time to be a blonde again?

The following pictures came from a calendar I had made for my mom one Christmas:

Jason and Joanne's wedding

Jason with his 2 chocolate bunnies!

This is Jason and me...but I'm not sure where it is.

My mom thought this was hilarious.

Something else fun to share from my mom’s memory box....she decided to train for a 5K in 2006. Like everything she did, she approached it with a ton of energy and excitement. The 5K was here in Allentown. I may have done the 5K with her - I can’t remember. Anyway, something happened and the course they plotted out for the 5K ended up being shorter than the 3.1 miles it was supposed to be. I remember my mom being so excited about her time (obviously faster than what she was expecting since she didn’t do the full 5K) and then us laughing (and being kind of disappointed!) when we found out the truth. I love that she labeled the back of her racing bib - and always the rule follower, made sure to note that it was “not true 5K”. Cam said yesterday he wishes Grandma Stanton was still alive.

 Few random pictures....

Girls' day!  Disney on Ice and ribs!  Perfection!

Twinjas finished a 31 day reading challenge today. They had to read for an extra 20 minutes each day and received a little extra spending money today. It’s awesome to think that this gave them 10 extra hours of reading.
