So on top of everything else (a pandemic that has taken grip of the entire world and caused us to quarantine in our homes) Michael and I were awoken at 1:40 this morning to an awful, repetitive, screaming sound in our backyard. We at first thought the noise was coming from one of our cats inside the house because the sound was so loud. We ran down the hallway and Mike realized it was coming from outside. He ran to the door in our laundry room and looked out the window....now Michael has awful eyesight and hadn't taken the time to put his glasses on before we frantically ran through our house trying to figure out what this sound was. He said he looked out the window and saw a flash of white running across our yard. He then banged on the door and the sound suddenly stopped. Needless to say, we haven't slept much since 1:40 this morning.
Per my stellar googling skills, I believe what we heard was a Fisher Cat. I have deduced that this Fisher Cat was hunting our neighbors' cat, Jack, who visits our backyard. I found a YouTube video where someone was able to catch a Fisher Cat scream. If you feel like hearing this awful noise, check this link out....
When I woke up this morning, I ventured out to get the chip from our game camera. Something I would never have had time to do if we weren't all being asked to stay in our homes. So here we are on a Friday morning, checking out the wildlife in our backyard!
!!!!!
This is our fox. We've seen him running across the woods and have known about him for a while. Maybe he was making the awful noises last night?
This is Jack. We are actually quite concerned about him this morning.
We think this is another stray cat that wonders around the woods.
Allie was SOOO excited to see we have bunnies! Now only if we could see them during the daytime.
This is a funny story...so this cat is ours - Rhys. Notice the timestamp - 6:07 at night on March 9th. We try to get all of the cats back inside before dark (and now will really do that!) but on this night, Rhys decided to ignore her curfew. She went missing for a few hours....
Here's Mike searching for her by flashlight...he was NOT happy!
Simon being quite adventurous.
Our FAT raccoon!
I think this is a beautiful picture!
We see a lot of deer.
The raccoon and deer co-habitating!
Got a good pic of this wild animal.
Miles
Could this be the Fisher Cat?!??!?!
Opossum we think!
Add caption
2 fat raccoons!
The saga continues......chip will go back in the game camera tonight and maybe we'll get proof on whether or not it was a Fisher Cat we heard last night!
