Our lives are now governed by the clock. The twins are eating pretty much every 3 hours around the clock. It's quite interesting how different each twin requests to be fed. They both start out by fidgeting and making grunting noises. They each do this routine several times with slight breaks of sleeping in between. One must be careful though. If you decide to feed them too early, they will not take their whole bottle. You must wait for the next part of their feed me routine. Cameron starts out with what I liken to a lamb cry. This quickly escalates into a, "Feed me now, woman!" cry. Allie on the other hand will politely make short, explosive cries. Being a little girl and all, she does not like to create a scene.
It is quite funny when each twin sees the bottle coming. They act as if they haven't eat in days. As you can see below, Allie was very into this feeding.
And oh the woes of burping. I believe this is my least favorite part of motherhood thus far. Yes, it even trumps the changing of the poopy diapers. When it's 4:00 in the morning, and all that stands between you and your warm bed is the elusive burp, things tend to get a bit frustrating. On top of that, the poor children look like it's the worse feeling in the world as you thump away on their little backs. Sometimes you may think, "Well, they just don't have to burp" and then continue with the feeding. A few minutes later, when the infant does in fact burp but the entire contents of the bottle come up with the burp, you learn your lesson. I must say though, when Allie girl burps from the bottom of her feet, I do feel a big sense of accomplishment.
They both have come a long way from being fed through a feeding tube. Even though my life is now centered around the big and little hands of the clock, I must say seeing these two packing on the pounds is the best sight I've seen in a while. Must run -- the twins are starting their routine up again!
Love your blog and I love even more that your sweet babies are home.
