My dad was finally able to come see the new house this weekend. Although I don't have many pictures to share, the few I have are priceless. I continue to wonder why my mother had to be taken away from all of us so soon. I struggle with the anger and sadness over it on a daily basis. However, today I found one small happy thing - my dad engaging more with the twins. When my dad used to come for a visit, it would be my mom and me talking, going out shopping, etc. and my dad holing up in the basement and watching television. Now, I don't blame him -- I yearn for the days of being able to relax and just watch TV -- but I also always wished he would spend more quality time with me. Now that the twins are here, and my mother is gone, that very thing is happening....he is spending quality time with me and more importantly, the twins. We had lots of fun over the last two days....went to the Fish Hatchery, checked out the Model Train Exhibit...but these next three pictures make me cry -- but this time, cry from happiness. If you're not sure what's going on, Grandpa is helping the twins color a picture in a coloring book. He would ask the twins what color they wanted and he would do the coloring!
The finished product! I love how he signed all of their names....and yes, Shorty was sitting right there with them!
On a funnier note, I told my dad that we had seen a firewood processing place near our house. He was really interested in checking it out since he sells firewood back home. Here he is, fitting in very well with the locals!
"We love sawdust!"
