Elephants and Ponies

Thanks to our good friends, we have a family membership to the Philadelphia Zoo for the next year.  We headed there today with Matt, Biz, Julie, Steph and her twins.  Our twins were so excited that they were giddy while we drove south!

Does this face not emit pure excitement???

Cam kept asking, "Are we there yet??"  Yes, it has started!

Allie was hoping to see a snowman and tiger while at the zoo!  At least we got one taken care of!
Close encounter -- awesome!

Cameron was a little nervous here but he stood his ground!

Too cool for the zoo!  Please note their outfits, courtesy of Mrs. Richter.  Cam LOVES rhinos and monkeys and Allie was super excited to be wearing her giraffe dress!!

Two things to note here -- this is the real reason they chose to turn their hats around - able to get much closer to the glass!  AND with all that was to be seen through the glass, Cameron chooses to check out the putty in between the panes.  Allie was also really into it and made sure to show me the "Play-Doh!"

This was taking during my favorite part of our trip.  We were checking out the tiger on the cat walk!

Very cool!

He's looking right at us!

Isn't that tiger behind us doing a great job at posing?

Silly girls!
Our little monkey!

Uncle Matty!

I'm amazed at how the twins can tell the difference between a rhino and a hippo AND be able to pronounce their names!

Always the model -- what a perfect place to sit!

Thanks to awful traffic on route 76, the twins got a fantastic nap!  All in all, a pretty great day!
Now to explain the title of this blog....as we were all eating our lunches before heading out, Mike and Matt asked the twins what their favorite animals were today.  Allie said, "The ponies."  Now, we did see ponies at the zoo but she made sure to clarify that she meant the ponies on her socks.  Cameron then answered, "The elephants!"  Good answer...but the Philly Zoo doesn't have any elephants.  Kids say the darndest things!
