Stanton Family Tree Tour...and Squirrel Pie!

Gammy (Mike's mom) got me the DNA spit test for Christmas.  I am really excited to get this back in a few weeks to continue trying to piece together who I am.  I began digging around Ancestory.com a little bit and was surprised at how much I found.  When I mentioned a few of these names to my dad, he got really excited and asked if I'd like to see where these people had lived (and died) and I said yes.  Thus began the Stanton Family Tree Tour!

Our first stop was Ollie and Polly Cole's home.  Polly was dad's great-grandmother.  They lived in this home until 1936.

Our next stop was the home where my Grandmother Stanton (Mary Jane Smith) lived when she was young.  My dad gives a little history on this homestead....

We then headed down Welles' Mountain to get to our next destination and Dad told a funny story about mom and "some idiot stuck on the mountain!"

We continued on our way towards Homets Ferry and pulled off to B and K where Dad keeps his truck.  Cameron was in little boy HEAVEN!

As we made our way down into Homets Ferry, Dad told a story about a bad accident he had on this very road.

We made our way closer to the river and decided to head as close as possible to see the chunks of ice floating by!

My dad kept starting stories without me knowing so I kept missing the beginning of the stories...I believe he said the Gun Club is what burned down.  As the video continues, you'll ask my dad ask "Would a train scare the kids?"  Thus began an exciting part of our tour!!  My mom would have been SCREAMING if she were in the truck!

The reason we went off-roading is because he wanted to show us some property that he's owned for 40 years....

Some more driving led to some more stories from my dad...

We then headed over to where my dad grew up....

We headed out of Homets Ferry and Dad started telling stories....Again, I missed the beginning of this next story but he was saying how he found his first bike after a flood....

We made our way over to my dad's grandparents' house -- he considers this the original Stanton homestead....this video also includes the story about Squirrel Pie!

We were in desperate need of a pit-stop so decided to pull off at the Stevensville church to visit some of our ancestors.

This is Allie and Cameron's Great-Great Grandparents, John J. and Lydia Stanton.

Jennie - daughter of John and Eva Goodwin - Allie and Cam's 4th-great grandfather

Earl Stanton - A and C's 3rd Great-Uncle

This video sums up how Allie was feeling at this point in our trip....

We finally got to Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Bill's house who had the chickens!!

And it was FINALLY time to head home.  What a great trip!

Just a few shots from hanging out at Bah-Bah's house....

Did a quick visit to Grandpa Carr's.....

We went for quick visit to Mrs. Dibble's house...

We showed off a little bit of our piano skills!  I told the twins that I sat for many an hour at this piano!

And one more headstone to visit....

I wanted to also include this video of my Grandpa Carr......
