Covid-19 continues on.....we are edging closer and closer to what is supposed to be the beginning of the school year. Michael's school will be going on-line full-time....the children's school is offering a hybrid option....my school is offering for students to come to school full-time. I do not like not having a plan and struggle each day to stay calm. The anger I have over the mismanagement of the pandemic in the United States in something I need to suppress pretty much all day long in order to try to salvage a memorable summer with our little family.
Michael turned the big 4-0 on July 19th. We had grand plans of going to Jamaica. But, alas, we had to stay right here at home -- but we made the most of it!
As has been the theme for all birthday celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebrations needs to last at least 3 days!
Day 1:
I found a fun idea called "40 Bottles of Beer on the Porch." I invited Mike's friends to drop off an assortment of craft beer throughout the day. The twins had fun decorating the porch for this fun idea!
| That John - what a guy! |
| We were excited to see Uncle Monkey!! |
| Happy to report that Michael ended up with 70 bottles of beer!!! |
Day 2:
The twins had the idea to make their daddy a delicious breakfast. The menu was M and M pancakes, fruit and bacon!
| Allie added just the right amount of M and Ms! |
| Cam was a pro on the stove! |
| Allie got the table all set. |
| We real quick wrapped the presents! |
| During all of this, I frantically threw together his bday cake. I've always been a good multi-tasker! |
| Pour the milk! |
| Happy Birthday Breakfast! |
| Present time! |
| Zap those bugs! |
Michael then had a small gathering of friends come over for some yard games. I had hired our good friend, Pete, to come play a set of music in our front yard. My driveway recitals have been a hit and this was also fantastic!
| Miles really enjoyed it! |
We found out that Pete was doing a gig at a local brewery. We decided to follow him!
| First time out in 4 months! |
Day 3 -- his bday!!!!
| Finished the cake! |
Off to Gammy and Poppy's for a special birthday dinner!
Phew...another bday in the books. In the midst of all of this, we've been trying to spring clean the house. I HAD to document the girl-child's room......alas, I don't think it will ever be this clean again!
We signed the twins up for the Wildlands Conservancy Virtual Summer Camp this past week. We LOVE the conservancy and the camp was super fun. I'm so impressed by all of the organizations and companies who are constantly thinking outside the box to stay connected with their community!
Along with the virtual camp, we decided to take an afternoon and go wading down the Little Lehigh Creek.
| Allie says, "Whoa - that's what we're getting into??" |
| For the record -- I made Michael smile for this picture! |
Everyone was apprehensive of getting in the water....so Mommy had to break the path!
We quickly got used to the chilly water. Cameron and Daddy worked really hard to get this tire out of the creek -- we're going to save the world!
| We've also been working through a Brain Quest book this summer. Todays quest was "Find things in your environment that have been around for 50 years. Find things in your environment that have only been around for a year or less. Here is Allie thinking about those questions! |
| Hunting minnows |
We finally got out of the creek and went exploring on the boardwalk. I love how curious these two are.
| We have found out that this bridge is called the "Wibbly Wobbly Bridge!" |
| Through our camp, we learned that all those small green plants are called Duck Weed. We're so smart! |
| Do you see the bird? |
This week's camp focused on fun experiments with water.
We continue to try to prep for the fall...new masks all around!
| Si-Si is loving having us home ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!! |
