282 and a bunch of poo!

One of my oldest friends, Jamie Neiley, got engaged last July.  She asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding and I of course accepted.  When we found out I was pregnant in December, I had to think a little bit about being a bridesmaid since the wedding was going to be in Pittsburgh.  According to the due date from the doctors, the twins would be about 2 weeks old when the wedding came around.  However, my doctor said the twins would probably come about 4 weeks early, so they would be 6 weeks.  She told me it would be no problem taking the twins across the state at that age.  Many friends told me I shouldn't do it...including Michael.  However, I had told Jamie I would be in the wedding and I wanted to follow through with this.

You all know the next part - the twins came a little earlier than 4 weeks as my doctor thought!  Even with the twins being born 2 months premature, I still wanted to be in her wedding.  Again, many people thought it wasn't the best idea but I continued ahead with it...buying the dress, finding shoes, getting my roots done!

Unfortunately I had to miss the bridal shower and the bachelorette party, but this past weekend, the Rocc Flock went on an adventure across the state for Jamie and Bryan's Pittsburgh wedding.  I was a little apprehensive but of course didn't let on to all the people who advised me not to go!

We left Thursday morning immediately after the twins' feeding.  Myra, Mike's mother, came along for the trip.  Michael drove for about 3 hours before the twins began their feed me routine.  We lucked out and picked a really nice service plaza to do our feeding.  We had a nice, shady table to feed them at.  After everyone was fed, car gassed up, I pumped in the family bathroom, a few strangers admired how cute the twins were, we continued on our trip.

Our timing was just about perfect as we pulled into Mike's cousin's house right around when it was time to feed the babies again.  After an unfortunate fight with trying to get the front door open (not a good mix after having driven 282 miles over 6 hours, hauling all the stuff to the front door in 85 degree weather!) we entered and set up shop.  I had to quickly shower and get ready for the rehearsal so Mike and Myra got the twins situated and bellies full.

The weekend then flew by as I was busy with bridesmaid activities.  Jamie even found time to come visit the twins Thursday evening.

Jamie and Bryan had an absolutely beautiful day for their wedding and an even more stunning night with the blue moon.

So all in all, the weekend was a success.  You may be wondering about the reference to poo in the title of this post.  Both babies have been struggling with acid reflux and have been put on medicine for it.  They were having some issues with having bowel movements, perhaps from the medicine.  Maybe it was the 282 mile car trip...maybe it was the excitement of seeing a new city.  Whatever it was, both twins had wonderful bowel movements.  As a side note, I never thought I would be so excited to see a poopy diaper.  Ah, the joys of motherhood!
