No Time for Crying Mother's Day Weekend

It is becoming a tradition to make Mother's Day weekend into a fun getaway weekend to help me stay distracted during the tough day.  I think about my mother every single day and did take some time to feel sorry for myself on Sunday - but the majority of my weekend was spent loving my little family.

We had planned to head back to Wildwood but the weather was not cooperating.  Mike and I brainstormed all week and came up with what we thought was an even more fun weekend than heading to the beach!

We left Saturday morning amidst the rain for Paradise, Pennsylvania where the National Christmas Center is located.  Our neighbor had given us this recommendation and it was wonderful!

Off we go!

Cam was up at 5:00 AM asking if it was time to leave for our vacation.  He fell asleep instantly in the car!

Allie "slept in" until 6:30 and was having fun with a Richard Scarry book.
Christmas in May!

So excited!

This was a cool room -- all toys from the good ol' days!  No electronics!!!

Mike loves old Santas!

Miniature doll house with so many neat details!

"Is it ok if we go up the stairs??"

So many things to see!

And then we got to the train room - WOW!!!

It was meant to look like a train underneath the Christmas tree -- so the tree up above??

Oh, hello Mr. Christmas Tree!

Bye Santa -- see you in December!
We got back in the car and headed to Hummelstown to check out the Indian Echo Caverns.  I remember doing this as a Girl Scout and loving it!

Did some mining for gold...the boys thought it was funny to block all the water at their part of the chute....

...and then when the girls least expected it...

...let the water go and it splashed us!!  We were not impressed!

But it was kind of funny!

We walked down to the cavern entrance -- excited to see the Susquehanna flowing right by us!

Getting ready to head underground!
Down we go!!

"Mommy - it looks like chocolate ice cream!"

Our REAL tour guide, Cameron, told our son, Cameron, he could be the leader for the next leg of our tour.

And asked him to turn on some lights when he got down to the bottom.  Our Cameron thought this was pretty cool.
We finished up at the caverns and then headed to our hotel and relaxed for just a bit....

Our hotel had a duck pond right next to it -- pretty fun feeding the ducks!

Then headed to Troegs for some yummy beer and dinner!

Richard Scarry is a big hit right now!

 Next stop - Chocolate World!!!

They were so excited - I thought their little heads were going to pop off!

The singing cows!!!!

This was right before our third time riding....still SO excited!

Luckily/unluckily the ride broke before we could ride it a fourth time....so we headed back to our hotel, which the twins thought was super tiny but also super cool to be sleeping in.

They also enjoyed jumping from bed to bed....

We asked them where they wanted to sleep - both wanted to sleep together with baby dragon.
Back at it bright and early Saturday morning -- down to the pool we go!

Quick trip to Hershey Gardens.  I got a bit emotional here because the last time I had been here was with my mom for her 60th birthday trip.

Miss this silly lady every day!

It was a beautiful day!

Off we go!

As always, these two help me to feel better!

Mike and I found it hard to keep up with the kiddos!

Where did Mommy and Daddy go???

Stopped at Panera for some lunch and contemplated if we wanted to make one more stop at the DaVinci Center or head home....

Since it was Mother's Day, I got to choose what to do next!

Ahhhhh......Paradise!

I was also surprised with some beautiful flowers and sweet gifts!

Our weekend ended with S'mores in backyard and snuggling inside.  Perfect Mother's Day Weekend!

Cameron was spring cleaning the house and Allie was delivering  the mail!

 Happy Mother's Day!!!!
