Summertime at Bah-Bah's - COVID-19 Style

We usually spend the early days of August at my dad's house.  We have loved throwing candy in the annual parade and playing games and riding the rides at the carnival.  Unfortunately, those events were canceled this year due to COVID-19.  We did head up to spend several days with my dad -- especially since our basement flooded last week.

The kitties were sad to see us go....

But go we did!!!  Right away we hooked up a trailer to my dad's Mahindra and took my boat and new motor up to Grandma Carr's pond!

Maiden voyage!

We tried to find the hidden island but to no avail! Hidden island?  Yes -- when they built the pond they put an island near the middle of the pond.  It was a touch too low so the water always goes over it.  I thought for sure we could find it!!

It was a long process to get this motor figured out -- I was excited!

I dropped the twins off on an island that is not hidden....and then left them.  Cam wasn't too happy.  :)

But off they went!

And off I went!!  Can you see the twins way out there??

No worries -- I picked them back up!

The next day was rainy so we headed into Dushore to do some shopping.

Footlong hot dog!

The day cleared off enough for us to visit my cousin Shauna's beautiful pool!!  The twins enjoyed playing with her son!  I enjoyed trying out the slide!!!

And then we got a call from Bah-Bah....he had a new toy for us.....

We did some exploring around Bah-Bah's firewood processor...
Cam of course found a frog.

He let it go!

We then ventured into the barn.....

I have not been inside this barn in a LONG time.  I told the twins all about all of the animals we used to have in here when I was a kid.

Little bit of fishing practicing with Bah-Bah - how do you put a lure?
Back to the pool!

 Quick fire....
We picked up this fun chocolate fondue fountain at a second hand store in Dushore.  Super fun and super messy!
The next day we head to the Susquehanna River!!  "Put your fanny in the Susquehanny!"
We launched at Homets Ferry.

My new motor was lovely....

We saw 3 bald eagles during our few hours on the river!

Michael was zipping around in Lynn's kayak once again!!!

And about 30 minutes before I took the following picture, my motor's battery died....we had to pull off on this island in order to give my arms a break!

Another bald eagle.

We eventually made it almost back to Lynn's house.  We quickly pulled over to another island that offered a bit more shade for us to eat our lunch.

Hello, Grandma Stanton.

We found a lot of milkweed -- and found these little guys!!!

Ughh....back to rowing!!!

We found an old hose so Mike used it to tie my raft to his kayak....what a guy.  :)

WE MADE IT!

We then headed out that evening to support the local fire company.  As mentioned, the annual carnival and parade couldn't take place this year.  My dad invited Mike and me to join him for a fun evening -- and lots of great food!
The event was held down by the riverside -- and we passed this amazing monument on the way there.

Michael chose a shirt that had some camoflauge on it -- I thought he looked great!

Back to 4-wheel riding the next day!

We walked down to check out the creek - this looked VERY different from when I was a kid!

This was our spot!!  Lots of swimming and exploring happened in this little swimming hole.

Allie did a great job keeping an eye on her brother as he rode his 4-wheeler behind us.

We then headed into the corn to play a bit....

Then headed to Bah-Bah's boat to do some quick fishing....
He's a natural!

Zipped around the pond in my raft for a bit...battery was charged back up!

There was a snapping turtle right in this spot....he disappeared too quickly for me to get his picture!

Photoshoot with Emma....

Quick lunch at Mark's Diner and off we headed for home.  Phew!!!!
