Adopt a Highway in Memory of Sue Stanton

Life is flying by.  The pandemic continues and sometimes daily life feels very overwhelming.  Trying to take breaks and breathers as we move along in this crazy year.

Allie-girl on the day of school pictures - she called me out to see this lovely sunrise.

Several places are hosting Fall Festivities.  Caught this one early in October!  The weather has been wonderful.

Since the kids ride to Nazareth with me two times a week, they got to visit Barbe-Mimi and climb a bit in her tree.  HUGE shout out to Miss Diane for not only watching the twins when they're not in school but also helping them to navigate this very difficult 3rd grade year!!

Cam played his second season of flag football.  He's been loving practicing football in the back with his dad.

We've had lots of fun in the leaves.....Michael has spent many hours trying to stay ahead of them!

We headed up to Bah-Bah's for a weekend away.

Bah-Bah got the kids  4-wheeler over the summer...this thing is pretty fun!

They are so big.  Where has the time gone?

Little Emma loves the twins!

Off we go!

Yup - pretty awesome.  The 4-wheeler I had as a kid was MUCH more dangerous than this one!!

Visited Grampa Carr's barn for a bit...

And then it was time to pick up some trash!!!

My mother walked "the block" regularly.  The block is roughly a square formed by several roads by my childhood home that equaled about 1.8 miles.  My dad and I had said we should adopt this highway in memory of her and I finally got it done earlier this spring.  Then COVID hit and we hadn't been able to get the garbage picked up.

Luckily, several of the twins' cousins and also our good friends offered to help.  We not only picked up my mom's 3 miles but also a road family friends adopted many years ago and are now unable to maintain.

Armed and dangerous!

Embracing the country.

We were so well prepared for this job.  PENNDOT gave us a bunch of gloves, vests and garbage bags.  My dad installed safety lights on his side-by-sides....and we had lot of helpers.  Off we went!

Lots of treasures were found along the way....

We spent a long time down in here.  There was SO much garbage.  We figured this part had never been picked up and this was just years of garbage accumulating in an area where a drainage pipe ended.  YUCK!

The cousins!

Bah-Bah and Emma were great help!

More signs from Grandma Stanton.

There's the farm!!  Almost there!

Our friends started at the end of their route and worked their way towards us.  We figured we'd meet at some point!!!

The whole gang!

I have no idea how many bags we picked up.  Off it goes to a landfill instead of along the road!

More farm fun....

And then back to the Lehigh Valley.....

Allie's back in a weekly art class and is VERY happy about this!

Cam's finishing up Fall Ball.

As Allie tries to embrace having sports in her life....

Happy Fall!
