The Hooks Come to Bradford County!

The twins have been asking to bring friends up to Bah-Bah's.  We invited Levi and Lyla (I shall refer to them as L and L for the duration of this blog) and we have so much fun!

We arrived at my dad's and the kids instantly headed to the pool.  Within 10 minutes, they had found a frog.  Cameron asked if we could drive it up to Grandpa Carr's pond to release it -- so we all loaded into the Kubota and headed up.

As soon as the kids saw the pond, they asked if they could go in.  I of course answered yes - and in they went.  We ended up spending more time in the pond than in the pool!

Good-bye Mr. Timmy!  By the time we left 4 days later, we had Timmy, Jr. and Timmy Jr. Jr!

I love this picture...

The kids then decided to explore one of the two islands in the pond.  I was finding it hard to keep up with them!

SUCCESS!

Back to the dock....and then they discovered M U D!

Back to the pool before dinner.  My dad enjoyed having visitors!

And then BACK to the pond!

We were given a spectacular sunset as I finally was able to drag them back to my dad's for the night.

A final swim to end our first day!

The kiddos loved Miss Emma and Miss Emma loved the kiddos!

Day 2 brought on more adventures...first stop was the gravel pit.

Stop #2 was back to the pond (to wash off the dirt from the gravel pit!)

As previously mentioned, my grandpa's pond was built with two islands.  The kiddos easily located the first island but had a bit of difficulty finding the second island.  This is because it's hidden.  When they built the pond, this island wasn't built quite high enough. Thanks for very little rainfall, I could just make out a murky spot in the pond where the island was.  Through me shouting directions from the dock, the kids were able to find it!

I was excited to see that the Wyalusing Community Theatre was doing their summer show.  The girls wanted to see "Anything Goes" but the boys opted to stay home with my dad and Aunt Jill and Uncle Karl (who were also visiting).  Uncle Jason had let us borrow his metal detectors and the boys enjoyed searching for treasure.

The next day we hit Mark's Valley View for a yummy breakfast and my dad took us fishing.

It took a bit for the fish to start biting...but once they started they did not stop!  At one point, my dad was taking fish off the lines and I was baiting the hooks - we could barely keep up!

After a great time on the water, we decided to head home in order to get cooled off in the pool.  My dad sat down to start up the boat....and realized the battery was dead.  We all kind of looked at each other and my dad said, "Well, looks like someone has to jump in the pond."  He had a battery charger in the back of the truck but somebody had to get there first.  I was very hesitant to jump in the water where we had just pulled so many bullheads out of (my country girl skills have slacked off over the years!!!) and decided to try to get the boat to move by having everyone kick their legs in the water off the front of the boat.  We were making good progress when my dad called for Cam.  A few seconds later, the engine came to life!  My dad realized there was a pull-start that he could use to get it started.  I would have not been very happy if I ended up having to swim across that pond to get us to safety!  All was well in the end and now we have a great story!

Safe and sound!

Back to the pool and metal detecting.  Uncle Jason had told us to check out the cemetery across the road.  There used to be a church there and Jason instructed us to search where the horses used to park their wagons for church.

We found two of these...could they be a part of a bridle from long, long ago?

We returned back to the Lehigh Valley sunburnt and bug bitten but very happy.  The twins are excited to bring many more friends up to the Endless Mountains.

Just a few pictures from our kayak trip with Pete - the twins successfully completed their longest trip yet - 5 miles on the Lehigh River!

A few edited pics the twins took.  Several butterflies hanging out together...and then a dying fish that washed ashore while we were admiring the butterflies.  Anything can be turned into artwork!  :)
