....Red Fish, Blue Fish. Or Sunfish, Bluegill, Large Mouth Bass and even a Rainbow Fish (as deemed by Allie because she enjoys the books!) These are all the fish we caught during our first time ever fishing last weekend with Bah-Bah!
We headed home to Wyalusing to visit the twins' great-grandmother as she turned 85 years old yesterday. We also had the chance to visit with their great-grandfather as well as go fishing in his wonderful pond that he built on his farm many years ago.
We had a small window of time before it was supposed to start raining again - so off we went!
| Saw a bunch of baby geese when we first got to the pond! |
| "Allie, make a goofy face!" |
| "Allie, make a pretty face!" |
Ok, it was time to get serious. Now, people...I used to be quite the fisherwoman. I grew up fishing with my family all the time. I even went on many trips to Canada with my dad and a bunch of other friends and fished all day long for 4 days in a row! Michael was amazed at my skills...and so was I!
| Maiden voyage with the Barbie pole... |
| Wait for it....wait for it... |
I missed that one - my skills were still a little rusty...
| Here is me contemplating the worms....it had been a long time since I had had worm guts on my fingers.... |
| It was then time for Cameron to give it a try. |
| He instantly got a bite and I showed him how to snag the fish and then start reeling it in...did we get it this time??? |
| We did!!!! He (and I) were so excited!!!! |
| First fish!!! |
| "Mommy, can I touch it?" |
| Cameron getting some pointers from Bah-Bah... |
Now Allie wasn't nearly as excited about fishing as her brother was. I convinced her to give it a try...
| Patience is a virtue... |
We ended up missing a fish that was toying with us and Allie was over fishing....I was a bit disappointed.
| Cameron on the other hand was having the time of his life! |
| Another one! |
| Kiss kiss! |
| I convinced Allie to touch this one that Cam caught...notice the one finger approach! |
| WORMS! |
I asked Allie if she wanted to give it one more try. She said yes as long as I helped her....
| "I think we got this one!!" |
| Success!!! I was so proud of her! |
| Our faces look weirdly similar.... |
| It was then time for Mike to give this fishing thing a try....with a Barbie pole. |
| This makes me laugh. |
| Michael was successful at catching the smallest fish of the day. HA! |
| Love Cam's new fishing hat from Uncle Karl and Aunt Jill |
| Cool action shot of Cam throwing a fish back in the pond... |
| Can you see the fish?? |
We also visited the twins' grandmother's headstone. I had a moment in the grocery store on Thursday when I was buying a plant for the twins to give to their great-grandmother for her birthday and flowers for the twins to plant at their grandmother's headstone. Very odd....but thankful to still have Grandma Carr to visit and grateful for all of the memories I am able to share with the twins about their grandmother.
One thing that I really loved doing - the twins sprinkled sand on and around Grandma Stanton's headstone that we brought home from Wildwood a few weekends ago. My mom LOVED the beach and it felt good to bring a little bit of the beach to her.
We then enjoyed some time on Bah-Bah's patio roasting our first marshmallows of the season!
| In the zone. |
| Life is good... |
| YUM! |
| Enjoying some R and R while watching Sofia! |
| "Mommy...is it almost summer?" |
| "Yes, Mommy?? Is it almost summer???" |
Yes, my dear twinjas....it is almost summer!!!!!!!!!!
