A fantastic friend posted something to my Facebook wall yesterday and again, this really resonated with me. I find myself thinking about so many of my past teachers through all of this and definitely feel myself getting wiser. Not saying I'm navigating this well at all -- but my tired brain is able to still take some of these life lessons in. He posted the following:
here are a couple more thoughts from my Leadership training classes. (I hope you accept them in the positive light in which they're intended.) 1) Stress doesn't know if it's good (like a wedding) or bad (like a tornado). The whole difference is in how you CHOOSE to react to Stress. 2) Like it or not, 24/7, you are a role model to your children. They are watching and absorbing every inch of how you CHOOSE to react to the world around them. Remember: You ARE the #FreakingMomOfTheYear! You're doing just fine. Hang in there.
Good stuff, right? So I got my butt out of bed today and put on a pair of LuLaRoe leggings and a matching shirt. I put a little bit of make-up on and put earrings in my ears. I pushed myself to pretend to be a happy mom who was enjoying Easter with her family. And right now - 8:15 PM, I can honestly say I got to stop pretending around lunchtime and was able to feel normal -- I got to feel like a mom who was having a fun day with her family. THANK GOODNESS FOR MICHAEL ROCCHI. He has really stepped up to the plate....he is truly a blessing to me and our little family.
I made a promise to myself that my blog will not become my obsession. I tend to get obsessed with things and I need to be careful or I'll just start typing and never stop. I had originally told myself I would only do one blog at the end of each week of this crazy time in our lives. However, Allie asked a question which is now the title of this post....so here I am again!
Easter morning, searching for the baskets. Usually I do a time lapse video of this...and I did take one like 5 minutes into the search....but right now I'm too lazy to pop it onto YouTube. So WIN FOR ME -- it's no big deal that my time lapse isn't on this post this year. Maybe I'll do it next year...maybe I won't.
Cameron says, "Panther, do you know where my basket is??"
Basket #1 located
Basket #2 located
The FitBits were the big present from the Bunny. The twins LOVE them and were very excited when they hit 10,000 steps today. I LOVE them because it's making them get up and get moving....something we're all struggling with.
Cameron is becoming a very caring person which truly is so sweet....He made some super cute cards for us.
And Allie-girl made Daddy a super awesome M and M house....luckily we had an egg large enough to house this thing!
Yes, more pictures of cats. They're just so stinking cute.
Gammy and Poppy dropped off the twins' Easter baskets earlier in the week. Gammy did an amazing job with their baskets. Fun snacks, fun toys and things they can use during the next few days and weeks to help keep them entertained. She also sent along eggs that Mike hid throughout the house for the twins to have as a search. Notice I said MIKE did this. I was unable to focus on any of this yesterday and again, am so thankful for all that he does for our family.
We then headed outside for an egg hunt in our backyard. Mike had stuffed and hidden eggs for the twins...I rallied myself together today and hid a few more for them....just not stuffed with anything. The twins didn't care -- the fun is in the search, not what's inside!
Simon says, "These humans are so strange...running around the yard looking for plastic eggs???? They really have lost their minds this time."
Miles says, "I totally agree. These humans are stupid." HAHA -- yup...I still have brain cells left to create funny captions.

Miles says, "Ok....I guess this is kind of fun....Allie, look in that plant!"
Mike built the kids some pretty awesome forts today. Both were a little funky...probably because of being tired and hyped up on sugar. So we thought fun forts for them to escape into could help.
Miles says, "This is way better than that stupid egg hunt."
We threw together an Easter cake the other day. Both twins were great helpers and I have begun to share my secrets behind making cakes with them!
And then we went on a hike. As mentioned earlier, Mike has taken over Cub Scout duties and Cameron had to complete a 1 mile hike for one of his requirements. We set off to do a hike we had actually done on New Year's Day this past January. I tried really hard to not take many pictures.....
Notice the mask on Cam's face. We were afraid it would be super crowded but it wasn't too bad.
Who would have guessed that the hiking buffs we used all last summer have now turned into the perfect face mask?
Ok...gotta pause right here. I know we're good parents. Mike and I have worked really hard to give our children a safe and fun home. However, I've been really struggling with that part of my life. Today I did a pretty good job.....Allie girl has always been a little uncertain in kind of scary situations. I always thought it was her being shy. Today I realized it's more of her being insecure with herself. Today, with lots of encouragement from myself and Mike, we saw our little girl blossom as a hiker (something she always claimed she hated before today). She was jumping off of boulders and running up and down the trail. So now we have two children to worry about while hiking!!!
Making Boomerangs are so super fun...
Really glad the weighted blanket continues to work....thankfully no nightmares again last night.
And we all came home....twins got showers...Mike made dinner...I worked on my grad class homework.
Pretty awesome Easter dinner.
Happy Easter....thankful to our neighbor for creating this great picture in PhotoShop.
